About

Ready to become part of the team? Go to the Partner page. New to the Carters? Read about us below!

Adventures are plentiful in The Land of the Unexpected, from snake bites to raising three girls to getting lost in the jungle. Jed and Katie, joined by Tikvah, Anya, and Mira, worked in Papua New Guinea (PNG) 2010-2023 in language survey, communications, and crisis management.

From 2024, a new adventure: leading the operation as Director.

We serve as Director of a team that has completed 222+ New Testament translations in partnership with local communities since 1956. We are currently engaged in Bible translation in 124 languages. To see changed lives, transformed communities, we provide many services besides translation: literacy, training, technology, research, etc. Because infrastructure is minimal in the remote villages we partner with, we provide transport, medical, education, and other services to staff.

Of 450 staff in PNG, half are PNGn, half from 15+ other countries. 1000+ PNGns work as translators and literacy and Scripture engagement workers. See https://silpng.org/ for more information about language development in Papua New Guinea.

The partnership of individuals and churches around the world makes this work possible.* We are blessed to be among those who Go! across cultures, linking believers all over the world. See the Partner page for more information, or go to https://www.wycliffe.org/partner/CartersPNG to become a financial partner.

*Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Papua New Guinea, Turkey, the United Kingdom, United States of America… – amazing!
